Your Bio

My name is Kevin Maloney I have been a volunteer firefighter with the Budd Lake New Jersey Volunteer Fire Department since 1991. Over the years I have held every fire officer position in the fire service and currently hold the office of Fire Chief for the Budd Lake Fire Department. My passion for fire photography started in 1992 and over the years have photographed many emergency scenes, documenting the heroic men and women of the emergency services. I currently am a member of the New Jersey Metro Fire Photographers Association which I joined in 1992, the International Organization of Fire Photography and a correspondent for Fire News a monthly publication that is dedicated to the fire service as well as magazines like Firehouse and Fire Engineering.

One Room Knock Down in Stanhope : Sunday late afternoon June 22nd the Stanhope Fire Department responded to 15 Hill Ave. for the house fire. Chief Donahue arrived and reported a working fire and requested the Netcong and Bryam fire departments for manpower as well as Budd Lake Fire for the FAST assignment. After a quick exterior knock down a crew went in and knocked down the rest of the fire and performed overhaul operations in the back bedroom. The Netcong fire company vented the roof as crews entered into a basement door and checked for extension. The fire was under control in a half hour with no reported injuries. Photos by Kevin Maloney

Chester Works Late Night Blaze : The early morning hours of May 17th brought several fire companies to Tanners Brook Dr. in Chester Township for the heavy involved house fire. First due units were faced with heavy fire and no water supply in the area the Chief quickly called for a Tender task force as companies laid a five inch supply line up the street. Flanders tower ladder arrived and set up in the front yard, as a defensive attack was started by the Chester units. Tenders started coming in and a steady water source established. Several companies were on the scene battling the blaze for hours. There was one burn injury on scene. The fire is under investigation by the Chester Township Police. Photos By Kevin Maloney

Budd Lake Extinguishes Car Fire : On the afternoon of Tuesday May 20th the Budd Lake Fire Department responded to the High Noon Bar on Rt. 46 for the car fire. Car 50 arrived to find a fire under the hood.  Engines 53 arrived and stretch an inch and three quarter handline and had the fire knocked down in minutes with the assistance from Squad 56. Roxbury Tackles Vacant House Fire : Friday night May 2nd around 10 pm the Roxbury Fire Companies responded to a report of a house fire on Dell Ave. In the Kenvil section of town. The first arriving Chief found a two and a half story wood frame vacant house fully involved in fire and instructed units to go to a defensive attack. Due to only one hydrant in the area that was a 3,000 feet lay the Tender task force was called in to set up a draft site to assist in the firefight. Mutual Aid Fire companies from Randolph, Netcong, Jefferson and Wharton  were called to the scene as well as several companies bringing Tenders. The fire was brought under control in two hours but companies remained on the scene for several hours hitting hot spots. There were no injuries and the fire is under investigation by the Roxbury Police, Fire Marshal and the State division of Fire Safety. Photo's By Kevin Maloney
