Budd Lake & Hackettstown Fire R.I.C. Training
Tuesday night April 26th 2011 crews from Budd Lake and Hackettstown fire trained together on R.I.C. (rapid intervention Crews) which is a team that is highly trained in rescuing trapped firefighters. After meeting at the Budd Lake Fire House for a safety briefing it was off to a vacant store in town where the crews took turns rescuing firefighters from different scenarios that they may be put in. As the drill started a film crew was there taping segments of a soon-to-be-released fire video by Tom Peterson called "Life in the Heat" which is a documentary on volunteer firefighters around the country. The drill lasted 2 and half hours and involved 30 firefighters and members of the Flanders Fire Department who stood by and filled all the air bottles. The Budd Lake First Aid squad was also on hand evaluating the firefighters as they came out of the building. The training was priceless and a good time was had by all.
